Magicsee N6 Plus: review, specifications, feedback

Once again, we have a review of a product from the Chinese brand Magicsee. After the first quarter and the release of the N5 Plus set-top box on the market, the manufacturer released an updated version – Magicsee N6 Plus. It might seem that the company’s engineers have addressed all issues and eliminated all problems. After all, this is what serious manufacturers do. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.

The video review of the set-top box was released by the Technozon channel.

Immediately noticeable is the Amlogic S922X chipset, on which the legendary Beelink GT-King and UGOOS AM6 Plus set-top boxes are based. It’s easy to guess that the declared technical specifications will be almost identical. And the price – over 100 US dollars. Naturally, the buyer will have only one question.

Is Magicsee reaching such perfection?

Magicsee N6 Plus: overview

The set-top box looks attractive externally. Starting from the finish of the top cover to excellent assembly and an informative panel. At first glance, the Magicsee N6 Plus TV box justifies its price.

In the kit, besides a decent HDMI 2.0 cable, there is a popular remote control among buyers – G10S. Yes, the same as the Beelink GT-King.

The main menu interface of the TV box is quite pleasant. On one hand – it’s pure Android. On the other hand – there is a navigation menu that can be easily hidden and a very informative navigation bar. Fans of the curtain will need to install the component themselves.

The network in the Magicsee N6 Plus works fine. It cannot be said that Wi-Fi 5 GHz is excellent, but it is better than many market counterparts. The wired interface also causes no concern.

Download, Mbps Upload, Mbps
LAN 100 Mbps 765 860
Wi-Fi 5 GHz 210 260
Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz 70 75

As for multimedia, with such a powerful chip, there is no reason to worry. 4K format works perfectly with YouTube, IPTV, and torrents. Not to mention the playback of heavy files from external storage devices. It’s pleasing that multi-channel sound passthrough works. There were no issues with gaming either. All resource-intensive applications run easily and work at maximum quality settings.

Magicsee N6 Plus: features

One of the drawbacks is throttling. The set-top box heats up very strongly and, trying to maintain performance, begins to lower the processor frequencies. Notably, the temperature is incorrectly displayed in the main menu. When installing third-party programs, the chip temperature can reach up to 90 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the panel shows a temperature of around 42 degrees.

According to user reviews, the Magicsee N6 Plus works excellently with the portable cooler VONTAR C1. With the most powerful chip on board, the set-top box is perfect for any task. And the price, compared to premium-class counterparts, is 10-15% lower.

It remains to hope that the manufacturer will not abandon support for their products. After all, a timely firmware update is valued more by buyers than just affordability. Time will tell.
