Production of BMW X7 has begun
The assembly plant was founded by Germans in 1994. According to company representatives, over two decades, they invested eight billion dollars into the factory, increasing capacity and area. As of early 2017, 9,000 people work in two shifts at the plant, producing X3, X4, X5, and X6 SUVs, popular in the USA and abroad. The plant’s peak production capacity is 450,000 vehicles per year.
Regarding the BMW X7, the plant has no problem starting serial production of the new vehicles. However, company representatives have raised concerns for brand enthusiasts, stating that the car will not leave the United States territory in the next six months. In the American market, the SUV will face competitors like Mercedes GLS, Lincoln Navigator, and Range Rover, so the market restriction question remains open. In Europe, BMW has a better chance to appeal to buyers than in America.
Rumors suggest that the X7 is equipped with a 258-horsepower turbocharged 2-liter engine and an additional 113-horsepower electric motor. The German-origin vehicle will deliver 326 horsepower – acceptable for an SUV. The manufacturer plans to introduce diesel and gasoline engine modifications for classic “Bavarian motors” fans. An 8-speed hybrid automatic transmission and all-wheel drive will position the “seven” alongside competitors in the market.
