Xbox with 8K and SSD: Microsoft's new "Project Scarlett"

At the E3 gaming fair (an exhibition of appliances for home and entertainment), which was held in Los Angeles (USA), Microsoft introduced its new creation. We are talking about the Xbox console with 8K and SSD. To say that this is a new round in the world of computer entertainment is about nothing. This is a completely new direction. About a major breakthrough in the performance of consoles that can create a truly realistic picture.

Xbox with 8K and SSD

8K UHD (4320p) technology has a resolution of 7680 × 4320. And support for 120 frames per second, provided that TV or the projector is capable of operating in this mode. SSDs a priori increase. But at the presentation, Microsoft representatives cheated and installed the NVMe SSD module. So the increased productivity in 40 times (in comparison with competitors) is possible only with the corresponding drives.

But in the context of such a substitution, Xbox fans realized that the console has the ability to install NVMe SSD. And this is good. Touching a couple of years in advance is always a pleasant gift for players. The performance of the console is provided by the AMD Zen 2 processor with GDDR6 memory. It is not clear what is cooling, and why not the Intel crystal - the question is still unanswered.

xCloud and controller

The good news is that all Microsoft consoles (both old and Xbox with 8K and SSD) received support for xCloud service. Moreover, the support applies to old games (about 3500 titles). All updates for consoles and toys are now combined in a cloud service. And that's great!

I wonder how Sony will react to the new product, which recently boasted of its mega-cool Playstation 5. A 40-fold lead in performance and support for 8K is a blow to the Japanese brand.
