At an auction in the USA, buyers are being offered dinosaur remains
Future owners will have to pay around two to three hundred thousand dollars for the acquisition of ancient monster bones.
The largest American auction house Heritage, known worldwide for its focus on art and archaeology, invites participation in a grand sale of dinosaur skeleton parts. Future owners can participate in online bidding or install the Heritage Life app on their smartphones to not miss the start of the auction.
The Triceratops skull is one of the valuable lots offered by sellers. The bone was found in 2014 in Montana, in the yard of a private house. It turns out that a complete skeleton of this dinosaur has not yet been found, and archaeologists continue their search, finding new elements of the Triceratops year after year. Determining the age of the discovered prehistoric fossil skull is difficult, but scientists estimate that the dinosaur’s skeleton is at least sixty million years old.
The skull can reveal the animal’s history – chips on the dinosaur’s skull could have been received in fights for survival with conspecifics or Tyrannosaurus. The bidding at the auction started at $150,000, but experts do not rule out that the final price could reach $250,000 to $300,000. Considering that the Triceratops is as popular as the Tyrannosaurus and is known worldwide among adults and children thanks to movies and cartoons, the dinosaur skull has every chance to attract buyers and make the auction more interesting.
The second lot is the remains of a Plesiosaurus, a skeleton found by archaeologists near Texas. The remains resemble a typical member of the reptile family rather than a dinosaur. Herbivorous Plesiosaurs lived near large water bodies worldwide, and their remains are found in sandy deposits in many countries. Those wishing to acquire the remains of an ancient monster will need to pay between $150,000 and $250,000 at the auction.
Mammoth tusks found in Alaska are no less valuable to buyers. Finding a pair of complete tusks is rare for archaeologists and scientists, so the auction promises to be interesting. There is no doubt that the tusks in the lot belonged to one mammoth – the tusks are similar in size and weight, and have the same curvature. Like dinosaur skeletons, prehistoric animal tusks start at $150,000 at the auction. From the well-known Heritage house, anything can be expected, so experts predict that the bidding for prehistoric animal remains could easily surpass the one million dollar mark.
