Rembrandt painting for 800 dollars

The lack of knowledge in art could lead to sad consequences for three Americans who decided to get rid of the paintings of the great artist of the 17 century for nothing.

Rembrandt painting for 800 dollars

After the death of his mother, the three brothers inherited a painting, which they immediately decided to sell at a global auction. The canvas was presented to the mother by his father, who, in turn, bought the painting at a sale during the Great Depression.

Картина Рембрандта за 800 долларовRecalling the value of the painting in the family, the brothers set an acceptable price per lot in 800 US dollars by their own standards. The description said that the picture depicted some ugly people.

There was no limit to the surprise of three Americans when the rates on the lot began to rise sharply upward. Having contacted the bidder who wished to purchase a painting, unprepared art dealers found out that the canvas belonged to Rembrandt’s hand and was called “Smell”. Moreover, the picture belongs to the series “Feelings”, written by a Dutch artist in the 17 century.

As a result, a buyer from France was found in the picture who paid 4 of a million dollars. However, art critics assure that the cost of the painting is much higher and there is an opinion that soon the Rembrandt painting will again appear before buyers at an auction, only at a higher price.
