Snooker Masters: Championship in Saudi Arabia

For the first time in the history of World Snooker, the championship will be held in Saudi Arabia. Snooker Masters will be held in Riyadh from 4 to 10 on October 2020. The prize pool of the championship is 2.5 million Euros. According to the organizers, the winner, who won first place, will leave with a win of half a million Euros. The remaining amount of the prize pool will be divided between the participants in the game.

World Snooker chairman, Barry Hearn, solemnly announced to the whole world about a new achievement in snooker. After all, this is a giant leap for all players and fans who are accustomed to competitions in America and Europe. Attracting the Middle East to such a sport is a success.

What cannot be said about politicians and international human rights organizations. After the announcement of the timing of the Snooker Masters Championship, negative reviews fell on the organizers. For example, the notorious Amnesty International announced the inadmissibility of holding championships in a Muslim country. Confused by the organization are restrictions on women's freedom of speech and the death penalty for crimes.

Game snooker and participants

The Snooker Masters Championship is designed for 128 participants and three rounds. The first round should weed out the 64 player. The second is 32. As a result, in the third round, the best athletes will compete for the championship. Starting from the second round, rating will be awarded to all players. This will allow the organizers to make a standings for fifty players and mark all with valuable prizes. Considering that in all sports only the first 3 participants receive prizes, this solution looks very interesting and attractive.

It remains to wait until the fall of the 2020 year, so that, at least from the TV screen, to see this grand competition among the best snooker players in the world. As for World Snooker events, before the championship the organization has scheduled about 20 rating events. By the way, the total prize pool for them is set at 15 million Euros.
