Bill Gates named the best books of the year

The founder of Microsoft traditionally, at the end of the year, announced to the world about five worthy books that are recommended to be read. Recall that Bill Gates annually names a list of literature that can inspire businessmen.

In his blog, the American billionaire noted that reading is a great way to satisfy human curiosity, gain knowledge and experience. Let people communicate and share information at work, but the book cannot be replaced, and it’s a pity that society is losing interest in literature from year to year.

  1. The Best We Could Do by Thi Bui is the memoirs of a refugee whose family fled Vietnam in 1978. The author is trying to find information about close people, as well as learn more about the country itself, which was ravaged by the invaders.
  2. Displaced: Poverty and Prosperity in an American City by author Matthew Desmond explores the causes of poverty and the crises that are tearing the country apart from within.
  3. Trust Me: A Memoir of Love, Death and Jazz Chicks by author Eddie Izzard about the world star's difficult childhood. The book will appeal to fans of a talented writer in the manner of presentation of the material and simplicity.
  4. "Sympathetic" author Viet Tan Nguyen once again touches on the theme of the Vietnam War. The author tries to understand the conflict and describes the two opposing sides from different angles.
  5. "Energy and Civilization: A History" by Vaclav Smil is an immersion in history. The book draws a line from the era of mills to nuclear reactors. The author clearly described approaches to the production of electricity and drew a parallel with technical achievements that are dependent on electricity.
