BMW will expand the segment of electric vehicles to 2025 year

To change hydrocarbon energy sources to affordable electricity, BMW set out to do so, which recently published its own plans to expand the segment of electric vehicles until 2025. According to the strategy of the German giant, 25 electrified cars will be presented to the public. They decided to start prototyping with the sports model BMW i8, which is planned to be further updated with an increase in the traction battery.

Also, information leaked to the media that the legendary Mini model, popular among residents of densely populated cities of the world, will be retrofitted. Also, according to rumors, it is planned to convert the X3 crossover. According to the brand, cars marked “X” have been given the new designation “i”, which refers the car to electrified products.

The manufacturer guarantees that the transition from gasoline engines to electric motors will not lead to a drop in power. Familiar sports cars showing 300-400 horsepower under the hood will delight the owner in addition to the acceleration dynamics, which are much better for electrified cars. BMW’s cabinets talk about 2,5-3 seconds to 100 kilometers per hour, there is something to think about for Lamborghini technologists.

Changes will affect the battery form factor. BMW technologists decided to unify capacitive drives, tying them to the line of cars. An 120 kWh battery is designed for a powerful crossover, increasing the car's mileage to 700 kilometers. And lightweight 60 kWh batteries will be installed on sports cars, providing 500 km of run.

For BMW subsidiaries, electrification will affect Rolls-Royce. The British refused hybrid installations and decided to transfer the elite transport to an inexpensive energy carrier. Interestingly, the line of charged cars marked “M” is not affected by the company's technologists. The Germans are not yet ready to remove gasoline internal combustion engines from conveyors.
